During my initial contact with Orange Business Services in Lyon Bellecour, I was immediately immersed in the project that would shape my six-week internship: Live Tag.
A Logistical Challenge: The Live Tag Project
Live Tag is a mobile application built with Flutter, designed to automate rapid inventory scans in complex logistics environments like warehouse facilities. Although initiated previously, the project was in a relaunch phase when I joined.
Taking over an in-flight project turned out to be a highly rewarding learning experience. This immersion required rapid onboarding across multiple fronts:
- Legacy Analysis: Understanding the existing architecture and past technical choices.
- Business Alignment: Grasping team priorities and end-client requirements.
- Technical Flexibility: Quickly adapting to a legacy codebase to deliver immediate value.
Initial Impressions
Using Flutter was a major highlight of this mission. The framework’s ability to target both Android and iOS from a single codebase perfectly matched the project’s requirements for speed and maintainability.
Beyond the code, these first days provided real-world exposure to an enterprise-scale software project, complete with decision cycles, budget considerations, and team dynamics.
This initial phase at the heart of Live Tag set the tone for the internship: a hands-on, demanding mission focused on real-world impact.
